About Bhav

Bhav Amar is an award-winning actor and 2024 Durham University graduate with a First Class BA in French and Spanish, now fluent in both languages.

Although English is now her strongest tongue, she couldn’t speak a word of it until the age of five. Growing up as a second-generation immigrant in a predominantly white school, she struggled to feel at ease in her own skin. To help, her parents introduced her to performing arts – a transformative step that led her director to tell her mum, “She’s found her voice.”

At Durham, Bhav led several major productions. Her debut as the lead in the one-woman play Beautiful Nothing earned critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe, with sell-out shows, five-star reviews, and a special merit award. Other highlights include her “captivating and emotionally resonant” interpretation of Hamlet, a “standout performance” as Mephistopheles in Doctor Faustus, and her praised portrayal of Bella in Rabbit, showcasing “extraordinary talent in drawing complex characters.”

A member of the National Youth Theatre, Bhav was selected among the top 1% of applicants accepted into the BA Acting Course at Bristol Old Vic following her time at Durham. However, feeling ready to enter the industry, she instead chose to focus on professional work, attending classes at Identity School of Acting to stay sharp between professional endeavours.

Aside from acting (and foreign languages), Bhav is a keen fitness enthusiast and former member of Coventry Godiva Harriers (Athletics) and Warwickshire Golf Club’s Ace Academy.
